♦ [pes fkess association.] AUCKLAND ITEMS. Auckland, This diiy. At the annual meeting of the Northern S.S. Company to-day tho report showed a loss of £060 10s on the year's business. The directors recommend that Captain McGregor retires from tho management and the appointment of a traffic manager instead. Over 1800 signatures were obtained hero to a petition against tho property tax. The weather is dull and threatening for the football match to-morrow. Tho Auckland forwards average l'Jst ilbe, and the backs list 6lbs. Tho Englishmen are practising to-day.
