In tho Legislative Assembly a motion to bring in a bill to effect a land tax was carried. An amendmont, which was regarded as a vote of censure on tho Government, was negatived by 30 to 17. The captain of the excursion steamer Undine, committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter, arising out of the collision during tho Glifford and Kemp race, whon two persons were drowned, has been acquitted. DIVORCE. Notice hns been given in tho Legislative Assembly of a series of resolutions protesting against vetoing Sir Alfred Stephens' Divorco Bill. RABBITS. The rabbits which wero inoculated with virus from the rabbits which had died from microbes succumbed within twenty-four hours. SHIPPING. Arrived—Steamer Bellinger from Wellington. Poet Dabwin, This day. Tho Three Cheers, from Now Zealand, has arrived at Kimberley. Melbourne, This day. Arrived —Eliza Firth, from Now Zealand. STRAINED RELATIONS. The strained relations which existed for some time between tho president and vicepresident of tho International Exhibition, has resulted in Chief Justice Higginbotham resigning the presidentship. Colonel Sargood, vice-president, resigned some time back, but subsequently, at the request of a majority of the commissioners, withdrew it. AT LAST. After ten years' negotiation the Governments of New South Wales and Victoria havo agreed to erect a bridge over the Murray river at 'Yarrawonga and Mulwallti, tho cost to be divided between tho two colonies. THE DROUGHT. Tho drought in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland has broken up.
