SECTION No. 277 of tho Municipal Corporations Act is published for genera! information :—" If any land or building within the Borough lying within one hundred feet from the sea, or from a public drain, can be, and is not drained by some pipe or drain to the satisfaction of the Council, the Council may make such drain as it thinks necessary to carry the drainage of such building to the sea or to such public drain, and may recover the cost of such work, not exceeding one year's rack-rent of such laud or building, from the owner or occupier thereof." IVTOTICE is hereby given that the folll lowing Resolution passed by tho Niipier Borough Council at its ordinary general meeting heid on. the 2nd November, 1887, will tako effect as and from the Ist January, ISSS. It was ordained that " The removal of night-soil bo made compulsory throughout the Borrugh, and the removal of house and yard refuse compulsory all over the flats and all over the Spit." The following extract from By-law No. 28 is published for general information : — BY-LAW No. 28, SECTION 13. 2. The Council may by a resolution passed at any general or extraordinary meeting cause a notice in writing to bo served upon the owner or occupier of any premises, either by posting the same to him or by personal scrvico, or by affixing such notico to some conspicuous part of the paid premises calling upon him to remove, destroy, and abolish any cesspit or cesspool which may exist on such premises within one month from the date of service of the notice, and in default thereof the Council may remove, destroy, and abolish such cesspit or cesspool, and the expanse thereby incurred shall be recoverable by the Council from such owner or occupier. 3 The Council may by a resolution passed at any General or Extraordinary meeting cause a notice in writing to be served upon the owner or occupier of any premises either by posting the came to him or by personal service, or by affixing such notice to some conspicuous part of the said premises calling upon him to alter within one month from the date of the service of the notice any privy or privies on the said premises into »n earth closet, with the pan system to tho satisfaction of the Inspector of Nuisances of the Borough for tho time being, or other authorised person, and in default thereof the Council may alter such privy or privies, and the expense thereby incurred shall bo recoverable by the Council from such owner or occupier.
