MR GLADSTONE AT THE LIBERAL CLUB. In his speech at the National Liberal Club Mr Gladstone stated that the Liberals were gaining strength to a largo degree, and he predicted" an early settlement of the Irish question. He mentioned that the party with which he was connected had decided to use all endeavors to prevent the imposition of the petty and vexatious taxation on horse arid wheel traffic as proposed in the budget. PRINCE OF WALES'S SILVER WEDDING. Lord Knutsford, Secretary of State for the Colonies, has presented H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, on the occasion of his silver wedding, with collections received from thirty-two of the smaller polonies. His Royal Highness has replied thanking Lord Knutsford for the valuable present. EMIGRANTS FOR CANADA. Two thousand emigrants embarked at Liverpool to-day for Canada. EGYPTIAN QUESTION. The Marquis of Salisbury has approached King Leopold with a view to induce him to negotiate with the Porte for a definite settlement for the future government of Esrv-Pt The Marquis has communicated with Rustem Pasha, Turkish Ambassador in London, warning him that he will not permit any further trifling m settling Egyptian affairs. BETROTHAL ABANDONED. Bkelin, April 12. The Poste states that the betrothal of Prince Alexander of Battonbivrg to the Princess Victoria has been abandoned. PRINCE BISMARCK DETERMINED X TO RESIGN. It is stated that Prince Bismarck is determined to resign the Chancellorship of the jLEmpire, and that the difference between JErim and the Emporor over the betrothal "•was only a pretext. EMPEROR FREDERICK. The Emperor Frederick suffers a good deal at night, and his physical condition is less satisfactory. EIGHT DAYS' CONTINUED SITTING. Washington, April 12. The Democrats have postponed the Refund Bill, and the deadlock has ended after eight days' continuous sitting.
