TOWN EDITION.
Yesterday the mortal rcmaine of "William Farlay Blako were interred in the Hastings cemetery. The deceased gentleman was a surveyor by profession, and one of Auokland'e early pioneers. The first caw-mill that was started in the Auckland province was erected by decoased about thirty-seven years ago at Waikoukou, which is situated between Helensvillo and Riverhead. MrBlake's enterprise was soon followed by Messrs Henderson and Roe, theee three gentlemen were tho pioneers of tho Auckland saw-milling industry. Tho deceased's three sons, together with a number of friends, were present at the funeral. Tho Rev. J'athor Le Menant dos Chcsnais performed the funeral service.—Own correspondent.
Messrs James Pain and Son's manager and staff of pyrotechnists, arrived this day by the Waihora from tho South after most successful seasons at Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington.
