Annual Meeting.

The annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Society was held to-day. Present: Messrs T. Tanner (in tho chair), Coleman, Fulton, Nairn, R. P. Williams, T. Sidey, Nelson, Laing, Fitzßoy, Col. Herriek, and Loughnan. COUUKSrOXUKNCE. A letter was read from Mr Campbell, ranger ut Woodvillo, suggesting the shooting season should commence ou tho Ist April, the same as in Muuawatu. lie reported that pheasants had considerably increased of late years. Pigeons in the absence of protection would soon bo a thing of the past. The license should bo reduced to half a sovereign.—Received. The Wellington Society wrote regretting that the shooting season was not uniform in the North Island.—Received, From Canterbury Society, asking a subscription towards the expense of introducing the humble bees, which had cost them £100.—Received. The Secretary read tho annual report aud balance-sheet:—The latter showed receipts J.l-18 Ms Ss, and the expenditure £102 8s lOd, showing a credit balance of £40 os lOd. The assets showed £11 lis for unpaid subscriptions. The lion Secretary ss'id thero wero no liabilities, while there were subscriptions for the last year to come in.

Mr Coleman moved that the report and balance-sheet be adopted.

Cr. Herriek seconded tho motion, which was carried. Mr Coleman moved that the shooting season both for the imported and native gumo commence on tho Ist May, and terminate on the 31st Juiv.—Carried. Mr Coleman moved thut a reward of tive pounds for the first conviction be offered by the Society against any one shooting "boforo tho Ist of May.—Carried. Mr Coleman moved that the shooting Jieeiiso fee be ten .billings.—Carried.

Mr Fulton, moved that a grant of £5 bo paid to the Canterbury Society towards the expenses of importi ag the humble bees.— Carried.

The following office -bearers were elected for the ensuing year :—President, Mr T. Tanner; committee, Messrs Coleman, R. P. Williams, T. Sidey, W. Shrimpton, Col. Herriok, F. C. Fulton, and W. W. Carlile. Mr Fitzßov was elected hon. sec.

Mr Coleman gave notice of motion that the date for holding tho annual meeting be some day in March next year, and that a special meeting be called to consider the resolution.

Mr Coleman paid a high compliment to Mr Fitzßoy for the manner in which he had carried out his duties in the past.

The following raugers were appointed : — Mr John Ireland, sen., for Makaretu and Ruataniwha district, Mr Graff for Danevirke, Mr Holder for Tikokina, Mr Campbell for Woodville, Mr Posts for Takapau, Mr Macdonald for Kuripapanga, Mr H. P. Mortensen for Norsewood, Mr G. Smith for Oringi, Mr F. Ford for Wakonini.

A vote of thonks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings.
