RUBIES.
London, February 29. The recently-formed Western Australian ruby syndicate will, introduce stones to the Home markets forthwith. N.S.W. CONTINGENT. Lord Wolseley, spooking at the annual Volunteer dinner last evening, warmly praised the appearance of the New South Wales contingent which saw active service during the Soudan campaign. He said it was a splendid body of men and a credit to the colony. Their equipment, added Lord •Wolsoley, was thorough and complete. PARIS EXHIBITION. At a meoting of English merchants and others, at which M. de Keyser presided, it was resolved to take part in the Pans Exhibition. BIG FIRE. New York, February 29. • The Union Square Theatre and Morton Houso have been destroyed by fire.
