The sum of :CIi3,G2S was spent last year under the head of subsidies to local bodies for providing work for unemployed, and there were outstanding liabilities up to the loth November of £21,235. The good people of Christchureh should feel thankful at two birds having been brought down at one shot—the poor relieved, and the environs of the city made beautiful for ever.
