Wise, Attorney-General, who yesterday intimated his intention of resiirninjr froai the Ministry, has agreed to withhold' his resignation for tho present. Melboukjtk, This day. It is understood that after tho breaking up of the Federal Conference last week the Premieis of the Australian colonies held a conference on the questions discussed at the meeting, and one of the results is that the Hon. T. Playford, Premier of South Australia, was favorably impressed with the benefits likely to accrue from federation, and he will urge upon the South Australian Parliamentary representatives the advantage to be gained, and will move a resolution that the colony should join the Council. The question of asking <;jio of the most prominent oflicer.s in the ■Imperial army to visit the colonies and report on the harbor defences and the efficiency of the laud forces was also discussed. . Sir Henry Parkcs, Premier of Now South Wales, opposed asking any of tho Imperial officers. It was decided not to allow tho matter to be dropped altogether, and Sir Frederick Roberts will most likely be asked to make tho report. AriKLAiDii, This day.
