SOUTH PACIFIC PETROLEUM COMPANY.

The delegates (Messrs. Weaver and Scott) appointed by the Gisborne shareholders have returned from Sydney. Mr Scott informs us that there will not be the slightest difficulty in floating the new company ; that, if required, five tunes the amount of capital would bo forthcoming either in or Melbourne. Mr Fleming , , the managingdirector, informed Mr Scott that ho could get seven or eight capitalists in Melbourne to take up all the new issue of shares. Shares in the present company were worth 30s in Australia, that figure being offered and refused. The terms on which the company is to be enlarged are those which wero published by us a few days ajjo. The capital of the company is to be increased to £100,000 in CI shares. The present holders of scrip are to receive £1 per share, and fully paid up shares in the new company equal to the number they hold iv the present company. After providing for this payment £40,000 will be the amount of capital available for futuro operations, a sum considered sufficient for all purposes. The floating of the new company now entirely depends upon the action of the present shareholders in sanctioning or rejecting the proposals lo bo liid before the meeting on 'Tuesday next. Mr Washington Weaver, the working manager, proceeds to San Francisco by the first outgoing mail steamer for the purpose of obtaining the plant necessary for tankage, refinery, and pipe line. Mr Frank Weaver, who is now at the company's works, is immediately to start another bore. It is not deemed advisable to proceed with operations at the present well, until tankage is provided, as an overflow iniufht result iv a serious loss of oil.
