Buot.diw, This day. The Caledonian sports were favored with fiuo weather, and 10,000 pcoplo were present. Tho Mile Ifcace was won by E. Ottrey, of Timaru, with 70 yards start, in 4mins 4Qsees i and the Three Milo Walk by T. C. Wilson, of Christchurch, with F. Bowen, of Christchurch, second. The Caledonian Handicap is continued over to-day, as also are all the wrestling- matches, in which H. Dunn, Geo. Robertson, T. Tiffin, and other cracks are taking part.
A fire broke out in the coal hulk Prince Alfred early on Sunday morning. It was confined to the after part of the vessel. Six hundred persona patroned tho excursion by the Hauroto to Oamaru on Monday.
