INVERCARGILL CELEBRATION.
CHILDREN ENTERTAINED AT TEA,
GREAT SUCCESS OF THE UNDER-

Invercaroill, This day. The jubilee celebration) for which splendid weather has been experienced, closed yesterday, when the Mayor (Mr Alfred 'Tapper) entertained _ the school children of between six and nine yeara at tea in the Garrison Hall. It proved an immense success, fully 800 little ones sitting down at seven long tables, which were well stocked with good things. A large number of ladies and gentlemen waited on tto children, whose delight was unbounded. At intervals tho band played, and songs were sung, and an entertainment was subsequently given to which children up to 14 years were admitted. This was attended by 1500. On leaving, the youngsters were presented with jubilee medals. Tho affair is unanimously declared to have been the best and most happily conceived and executed of all the local celebrations.
