HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The Trustees met at 2 p.m. to-day-Present : Capt. Russell (in the chair), Messrs Cohen, R. P. McLean,Ormond, and the Mayor: REPORT. Tho Chairman rend the report of Dr. McGregor on the hospital, from the paper presented to Parliament during the last session. The report was ordered to bo attached to the minutes. VISITINU COMMITTEE'S REPORT. We have visited the Hospital on several occasions during the past month, and we have much pleasure in stating that we have always found everything in good order, the building clean, and all the surroundings are tidy. Tho patients are well satisfied with the treatment received by th em. We wo uld recommend for your consideration that a hot water service be iittcd to supply the bath used in tho public ward. This we consider a very necessary work. Wo also beg to recommend that a head nurse be appointed in place of Nurse Jcnner, and that Miss Payntcr be appointed a nurse, she now I holding the position of probationer nurse, and that hor salary bo raised to that given to other nurses as from the Ist of .Time. H. P. Cohen. J. N. BoWEESrAN. It was decided that the secretary 'should • enquire as to the cost of heating apparatus. Mr Cohen thought it was desirable that a head nurse should be appointed, so that the steward could leave, some one in charge whon ho left in the evening.—lt was decided to lot tho question stand over till next, meeting. The Chairman said when in Wellington he enquired as to the salaries paid there to nwrses. Ho found that the head nurses received £45, tho senior probationers got £35 (equivalent to their nurses), and junior probationers received £25 per annum. It would be better to let the question stand over till they knew what salaries were paid elsewhere. COERESPONKENCE. From Premier's oflice, asking for a return as to the cost of the hospital under Government and under the new Act.—ln-j formation supplied. From E. T. Allen, asking- for payment of his account for. sweeping the chimneys. Payment had been refused because of some damage done to a chimney.—Referred to Visiting Committee. From Dr. Spencer, notifying ho had examined probationers Robertson and Hawkins, and they were certified as capable nurses.—The Chairman said .the staff of nurses was absurd when the number of the patients was considered. XISCELLAXEOUS. It was decided that the Board should pay the steamer faros of Mr T. Parker, appointed by the Wairoa County Council to represent them at the election, of trustees. The average number of patients for May was 12, the cost of the institution for the month was £173 6s sd, of which £26 10s was recovered from paticuts, leaving the net cost £140 15s, of which salaries absorbed £92 17s Id. Vouchors for £173 (is od were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.

It, may interest flockowners to know that Messrs Eakins and Co. are now'preparing an Emulsion of Eucalyptus Oil, Turpentine, Quassia, and Camphor for dosing sheep suffering from intestinal worm. The preparation is without doubt of far greater value than Turps and Oil, and the cost is also moderate (10s per gallon) and the mixture is given in one ounco doses with syringe, as Turps and Oil.
