THE FUNERAL.

Sluing the day the Spit and Napier firebells tolled at intervals, out of respect to their late Fireman Waddell and the other unfortunate men drowned by the capsizing of the Boojum. The funeral was a very long one indeed, in fact all the sailors and persons at the Spit seemed to have entered t tho procession, the funeral of the three, Setter, Archibald Waddell, and George ~BaiiiJ j eing connected in one long procession. Tho members of tJie Napier and Spit Fire Brigades drawing the engine with the coffin. Tlie Fire Police also attended in good force, and all the men in the employ of the L r .S.S. Company followed in the procession, the coffins containing the bodies of Captain Setter and George Bain having the Union Jack covered over them. Then came a long line of private carriages. The lodges in which the deceased persons were members of also mubtored strongly, Mr Waddell being held in hiifh respect in the different Lodges, having occupied a leading position in them. The funeral was one of the longest we have had here. By the time tho hearse got to the corner of Tennyson-street, and began to turn the road leading to the grave-yard, the final portion of the procession rounded the top corner of Tennyson-street. The crew of the Northumberland attended the funeral in a body.
