VESSELS IK ROADSTEAD, Astcrion, barque, loading Luiiine, barque, loading Trowbridge, barque, loading.
Tlio Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross left Gisborne at 9.30 p.m. yesterday, and arrived alongside the cattle-wharf at 11.30 a.m. to-day. She will take in a quantity of wool for transhipment to tho Rimutaka, and sails for Wellington at 4 p.m. The s.s. Australia steamed for Northern ports at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. The s.s. Fairy arrived this morning from MaHa with a load of whale-oil. She also brought a quantity of copper, wliich has been stripped from tlic ill-fated schooner Cleopatra, wrecked at the Mahia some time ago. The s.s. Weka steamed for Arapawamn late last night with a load of stores. Tho s.s. Ohau left Wellington at 5.15 p.m. yesterday, and arrived in the bay_ at 1.30 p.m. tcr-day. She is now being lightered, and will steam for Gisborne, Tauranga, and Auckland this evening, the Boojum leaving the wharf at 5 p.m. ■ The s.s. Kiwi is due here early to-morrow morning, and returns to Wellington in the
evening. Tho s.s. Go-Aliead will leave Wellington to-d«y, and is due here on Monday, returning to Wellington on the same day. "The s.s. Waitaki will arrive here from Northern ports early to-morrow morning, and proceeds to Wellington in the afternoon. The Union Company's s.s. Te Anau will arrive at daybreak to-morrow, and proceeds in the afternoon to Melbourne via Southern ports ; the last launch leaves at 2 p.m. The Manapouri has been further detained and will not arrive here before Monday morning , . As it is intended to work Giaborne in the evening, passengers will leave the wharf at 9 a.m.

Sailed—Te Anau for South. Passengers for Napier — Misses Ross, Schumaker, Fraser, Walker, and Warbrick; Rev. W. Baumber; Messrs E. Nayes, Jamieson, Grey, and J. Coates ;Mr Alison; Masters Chrisp, B. Gillies, Edson, Taylor, and Harding. This day. Arrived—Barque Brunette from Newcastle. Capt. Walsh describes the weather as the most trying ever experienced. She sailed on the lStn December, and on the 21st a strong gale set in, lasting three days. On tho 15th January a hurricane started and blew for four days. The barque which was hove-to, sustained some damage by the seas breaking on board. She had contrary winds throughout.
