At tho Magisterial enquiry into the wreck of the ketch Janet, at Cape Campbell, the Court found the wreck was the result of careless navigation and suspended Captain Berg for three months, and ordered him to pay costs. James and Charlotto Cook were found not guilty on a second charge of receiving stolen property, and a nolle prosequi v?a,s entered in the other charge, the prisoners being discharged. At the Supreme Court to-day, Wra. Marsden was convicted of stealing a watch and remanded till November for sentence, in the meantime enquiries to be made if he can come under the First Offenders' Act. Blenheim, This day. At the inquest on Daniel "Wilson, who committed suicide by shooting himself in the forehead at Pelorus Valley, a verdict of temporary insanity was returned. No cause was assigned for the act. New Plymouth, This day. The schoolmaster's residence was burnt at Hepperton this morning at 3 o'clock, the children having a narrow escape of being burnt. No cause as to the origin is known. Tho house was not insured.
