FOR SALE, The Fashionably-bred Thoroughbred Sire, PISCATORIOUS. PISCATORIOUS is by Traducer (imp.), dam Fanny Fisher, by Fisherman (imp.), out of Coquette (imp.), by Launcolot, full brother to Touchstone, winner of the English Derby. Traducer by The' Libel; The Libel" oat of Pasquenade, full sister to Touchstone. Without further extending this pedigree, in which the prevalence of the Touchstone element is remarkable, the above will show conclusively enough that a better investment than Piscatorious for stud purposes could not be obtained in the Southern Hemisphere, the fame of his sire, the great Tradiicer, and that of the equally illustrious Fisherman, sire of Fanny Fisher, being so wide-spread as to render any comment on their respective merits unnecessary. I may, however, call attention to the fact that Musket's big success has been from Australian bred mares, descendants of the grand old Fisherman. Martini-Henry, JNordenfeldt, and Trenton are all descended from Fisherman on the dam's side. In appearance Piscatorious is in every respect, what might be expected in the possessor of such a pedigree, a magnificent specimen of the thoroughbred horse. His performances, winning , as he did nine races out of fourteen starts, show the advisability of sticking to -winning strains of blood, whilst the fact of his first get having brought, as a yearling, 250 guineas, and having been re-sold for 700 guineas proves him the possessor of that indispensible qualification in a sire, the power to transmit his superior qualities to his progeny. The" late Mr Walters, who had several of the best racehorses in the colony, and consequently every opportunity of comparing performances, confidentially stated to me that in Piscatorious he had the fastest colt in New Zealand, and hoped to make a fortune with him, and his record undoubtedly shows that the estimate he formed of his capabilities was correct, but unfortunately the result of an accident compelled his removal from the turf to the stud. He is, however, thoroughly sound now and would stand any preparation. Price and further particulars on application to H. MONTEITH, Auctioneer, &c, Horse Bazaar, Napier. R.
