THIS DAY'S PARLIAMENT.
[feom oue special correspondent.—by TELEGRAPH.] Wellington, This day. The House met at 2 p.m. The House went into committee for the purpose of allowing the Bill to be introduced to reduce the export duty on gold, and was read a first time. In answer to Major Atkinson, the Premier stated the Government would take discussion on the Public Works Statement on Monday next if possible, but if not on Tuesday; and, in reference to the Representation Bill, an opportunity would be given to discuss it on Friday. In answer to questions it was stated— There was no intention to reduce the fees in connection with the Land Transfer Act. In future appontments to the Legislative Council Southland would not be overlooked. The Government had laid all papers in connection with the proposed purchase of German interests in Samoa on the table.
