SECOND EDITION.

A lecture will be delivered this evening by the Bishop of Madagascar, in St. John's school-room, on the mission work in Madagascar. No charge for admission will be made, but there will be a collection in aid of tho funds of the mission. A public installation of officers of the U.A.O.D. Albion Lodge will take place on Thursday next at half-past seven. The public are requested to turn up punctually, as no one will be admitted during the ceremony. After the installation a dance will take place for members and their lady friends. The secretary of the Poultry Association has asked us to state that tho following specials have been given since tho special prize list was advertised: —United Importers Company of "Wel'ington, per G. H. Smith, for second best exhibit in poultry classes, £1 Is; J. Heron, for best game pile cock, tin biscuits; Novelty Depot, for best goldfinch, canary cage, value 10s Gd. At the Napier School Committee meeting last night, Mr McAncny nsked if the parsons who conducted religious instruction classes after school hours paid for the coal which was then consumed, and it should not be expected that each now committee would have to be applied to for permission to conduct such classes in the school buildings ? The chairman, in reply, was of opinion that all concessions granted by former committees held good unless new committees rescinded such action, and as to the coal, certainly no charge was made, as the expense was trifling, and the children benefited thereby.
