At the Supreme Court this morning, Cornelius Toll, convicted of the robbery of 30s from an hotel, and against whom previous convictions continually have been recorded since 1873, was sentenced to ten years' hard labor. P. H. Dodd, for forgery, received twelve months' hard labor. Kaikouea, This day. Mr Connor's Temperance Hotel was burnt down early this morning. About £30 worth was saved, but the inmates saved little or nothing. The premises and contents were insured for £600 in the New Zealand office. Fortunately there was no wind, or Mr Maston's new store would have gone. As it was it was only saved by the most strenuous exertions, the building being slightly damaged. _ Auckland, This day. Last night a band of eight larrikins, with the avowed intention of wrecking tho Star Hotel, attacked Mr Adam Cairns, the licensee. Police assistance was telephoned for, and two of the rioters, Patrick O'Keefe and Richard Larritt were arrested. They were charged at the Police Cowt this morn-

ing. O'Keefe was sentenced to one month's hard labor, and Larritt was fined £5 and costs, or a month's imprisonment. Tho other members of the gang are known. A Fruit Growers' Association was formed last night. Mr Thomson was elected president. It was resolved to oppose any alteration in the present Codlin Moth Act.
