The coininitteo met at 2 p.m. Present: Messrs Tifien (in the chair), Cohen, Miller, Curnell, Sutton, and Captain I-U.-i.oll. CORIIKSPON OUNCE. From nurse McGillivray, rcugning her position. —After the expression of many kindly things in reference to tho nurse, who was described as the Grace Darling of the institution, it was unanimously resolved to present her with £20. DR. KEYWOII-H _ REPORT. In accordance with tho permission kindly granted by the coininitteo, I havo made arrangements for a fortnight's absence from tho Hospital, and purposo leaving next Saturday for Auckland, Dr. Do Lislo and Dr. Mooro havo kindly undertaken the charge of the Hospital during my absence. There is littlo further to report in outsocial economy beyond the fact that Nurse McGillivray, after nioro than two years'
service, wishes to resign at the close of this month. Her careful attention to duty and untiring assiduity havo been beyond all praise. She loaves tho Hospital with the esteem and regret of all connected with tho institution, and will carry with her tho kindly remembrances of very many to whom she has ministered in hours of paia and weakness. I Tho morality during the past month has been much above the average, but. it consisted almost entirely of cases of hopeless and incurable disease. Mr Margoliouth asked why the doctor was again receiving leavo so shortly after tho last occasion. The chairman said tho committee had unanimously agreed to that course. Tho doctor had been asked to deliver two lectures in Auckland on contagious diseases. — Leavo grantod. visiting- committee's report. Your visiting committee havo tho pleasure of reporting that tho management of tho Hospital has been satisfactory in all respects during tho past month. Miss McGillivray has given notice of her intention to loavo. The institution will lose au excellent nurse and tho patieuts a faithful attendant, but aa lior reason for leavingarises from a change in her domestic position wo can only bo pleased that it is for hor own futuro benefit. This woman's brave and watchful conduct during the single visitation of small-pox is not forgotten, and wo recommend that a liberal present bo made to her in recognition of her services. M. R. Miller H, P. Coken —Adopted. From Under-Secretary for Lands, asking to what date tho Hospital rents had been paid.—The Chairman said he had paid the rents in himself to tho Bank of New Zealand. HOSPITAL. The House Steward read the details of the estimated expenditure for tho year amounting to £2825 10s, ami tho receipts were estimated at £500, leaving £2325 to be raised by local bodies. Tho auditor's report as to the correctness oi tho accounts was presented and received. PAYINU PATIENTS. The chairman said proceedings would havo to be taken against some of tho patients, who declined to pay for their maintenance. Tho refusal of ono man in a good position had led to fivo others also refusing to contribute. tenders. It was decided to call for tenders for supplies for tho Hospital from the 30th of November next. Tho tenders to bo advertised in all tho papers. Messrs. Tif.cn and Miller fo deal with them. Tho tenders to bo returned by Tuesday noxt. Tho meeting then adjourned to the 27th November.
