Tho Government are in receipt of a telegram from tho Agent-Genoral to tho effect that the political situation in England is still very menacing. The trial of tho convict Barnes, for tho murder of tho late J. B. Slack, was concluded to-day. Tho prisoner was found guilty, and was sentenced to death.
