The Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Company have declared a dividend for the past half year at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum.' _ ■ (Received NoYcraber 10, 2.40 p.m.) November 17.
In the House of Commons to-day Mr Gladstone stated that provided he was. assured of the Franchise Bill passing the House of Lords during this session he was ready to parley with the Opposition regardin«- the redistribution of scats or to introduce a bill for that purpose and push it through the House of Commons. , , Mr Childors, Chancellor of the Exchequer, has announced that the income tax is to be increased by twopence in the pound. Prices were firmly maintained for 'good qualities generally ; inferior and faulty wools were rather lower.
