PORT OF NAPIER
AR.KIVALS. August 22—Southern Cross, s.s., from Auckland via Gisborne. Passengers — Messrs Frazer, Heath and child, Hitchmau, and Halladod. 22—Fairy, s.s., from Pourercrc. 22—Weka, s.s. from To Apiti.
The Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Hutchison, arrived in the bay from Gisborne at 10.50 a.m. to-day, and will bo brought inside at 2.30 p.m. She lias on board the cargo over-carried by the To Anau last Saturday. She is advertised to sail for the South at 3 p.m. tomorrow. The following is a report of her passage, kindly furnished us by Mr J. Waldie, the purser :—Loft Auckland at G p.m. on the 19th, breasted White Island at 11 a.m. on the 20th, passed s.s. Thomas Russell off Capo Runaway at 2.30 p.m., and arrived at Hick's Bay at 5 p.m. same date ; sailed at 3.15 a.m. on the 21st, rounded East Cape at 5.30 a.m., and arrived at Tuparoa at 7.30 a.m.; sailed at S a.m., and arrived at Gisborne at 3 p.m. same date ; sailed at 4.40 p.m., and arrived at Napier as above. Experienced light N.W. winds and swell to East Cape, light N.E. winds and smooth sea to Gisbome, thence heavy southerly gale and high sea till 6 a.m. today, and fresh southerly winds to arrival. Both the steamers Weka and Fairy, which left for the coast on Wednesday night, were forced to return, the sea being too heavy to work.
The s.s. Wairoa is to leave for Wairoa at 12 o'clock to-night. The Union Company's s.s. Waihora left Auckland at noon to-day, and may be looked for early on Sunday morning. The launch is advertised for 10 a.m.
The Union Company's s.s. Manapouri leaves Wellington this evening, and will bo hero about mid-day to-morrow. The outward launch leaves the breastwork at 5 p.m.

IBY TELEGRAPH.] Cjibistchttrcii, This day. The Ringarooma was floated yesterday and was found watertight. Her Northern cargo was transhipped into the Manapouri. It is expected that two months will elapse before the Ringarooma is fit to take up her running again. Blenheim, This day. The ship Lyttelton left Picton for London yesterday. Her cargo is valued at £19,929, and included 10,132 carcasses of frozen mutton and lamb, and 130!) frozen rabbits exported by the Marlborough Freezing^Company. The general cargo includes 145 bales of wool, 400 cases of preserved meats, and 406 casks of tallow.
