LANDSLIPS.—CHILD KILLED.
Auckland, This day. An enormous landslip occurred at the Emily Place excavations last evening, as tho result of the heavy rain that has fallen. The men were just leaving work when pieces of earth and stones fell from tho cliff's. They ran for their lives. From 5000 to 10,000 yards of earth fell, burying the drays and killing one horse. The driver escaped. Tho Beach road is blocked for three chains, and traffic is stopped. Fortunately none of the numerous ' busses passed at tho time, or there woidd have been serious loss of life ; or had the fall occurred earlier few of the working party at the east side could have escaped instantaneous death.
Blenheim, This day. A land slip yesterday at Onamatutu buried a child named Richard John Giles, the son of a miner, who was working in a tunnel close by. The body of tho child was cold when got out after half an hour's digging. An incpicst will be held. The child's mother was also hurried to the waist, but escaped unhurt.
