MEETING OF CREDITORS.

Auckland. This day

A meeting of the creditors of Lionel Phillips, Avino merchant, was held yesterday. A large number of gentlemen more or less interested wero present. The debtor's expenses for ' houso and office appeared to bo about £21 per week from tho ■■ time he began business. Mr A. H. Nathan, said there was considerable dissatisfaction respecting tho debtor's affairs. The debtor appeared to lose £200 in scrip, and some of the creditors scorned to think this was a species of gambling for a business man. Mr Nathan said that for the nine months Mr Phillips had been in business £900 seemed to havo been lost, or about £100 per month, and this amount Avas exclusive of any supposed profits on tho debtor's business. It was finally proposed- and carried that Mr Bennett, a certificated accountant, bo employed to go through the books and the wholo estate, and report to a meeting to be held on Friday The debtor had no offer to make, but wished to assign over the estate for liquidation.
