THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

Wellington, This day. At the Wesleyan Conference yesterday the annual report of the general secretary of Sunday Schools was read, a ho wing an increase in every department of this work. The thanks of the Conference were presented to the Rev. George Bond, and he was reappointed general secretary. The Conference was unable to comply with the request of the Auckland district to appoint an itinerant evangelist, there being no minister available for the purpose. An influential temperance deputation waited on the Conference and presented an address. The Revs. Messrs Lewis and M'Nichol replied, and a resolution' favorable to temperance was adopted. was held last night in Wesley Church, The secretary presented to the President the Revs. Brook, Griffin, and Dukes, and they were ordained by the imposition of hands. A large congregation was present. The charge was preached by the Rev. A. Rind, who selected "Holiness" as his theme, and the peculiar fitness of the Methodist Church organisation to spread Scriptural holiness throughout the land. This morning the united sessions of the Conference commenced. Twenty-five laymen from various parts of the colony took thoir seats. Committees wrre appointed on Home missions, new Book of Discipline, and connexional privileges. Several matters of departmental business were transacted. A request to sell landed property at Wanganui was refused.
