Captain AVilliam Jackson Barry lectures in the Protestant Hall at 8 o'clock to-night. The pupils of the Napier district school perform the cantata "Now Year's Eve " in the Theatre Royal to-morrow evening. Members of tho Rifle Volunteers who have not gone through judging distance drill have opportunities of doing so tomorrow and AVednesday evenings. The thirty-third call of threepence a share in the Southern Cross Petroleum Company is payable afc the company's office in Christchurch on AVednesday. The Rev. E. 0. Perry repeats his lecture on " Memory" in tho Methodist Free Church on AVednesday evening. Mr Chamicr will sell the privileges of the Woodville Jockey* Club by auction at Crane's Hotel, Tahoraite, on Saturday next. A meeting- of tbe promoters of tho Harmonium Concert at Petano is called for Monday next in tho school-room. . Mr S. Baddeloy announces that ho has taken the Matamau Hotel, and is prepared to supply the best accommodation to travelers.
The prospectus of the Champion Copper Mine Company is published by Mr AY. G. Motley, tho Napier agent, from whom all information can be obtained. Caledonian sports will be held at Petane on New Year's Day. Mr R. IL Robinson wants tenders for erecting a six-roomed dwelling (labor only). Rymer's coach loaves Puketapu every day at 8 a.m. for Taradale and Napier, returning at 3 p.m., the fares each way being 2s. John Sutherland, of Havelock, declares his inability to meet his engagements with his creditors, tho first meeting of whom will be held at the Court House, Napier, on Tuesday, 18th instant. The 'Bon Marche has again secured a wonderful line in white curtain nets. The public are invited to inspect Scarfe's Christmas fruits.
