SEVERE THUNDER AND HAILSTORM IN OTAGO.
Dunedin. This day.
A very severe thunder aud hailstorm occurred at Tapanui, about one hundred miles from Dunedin, in the Tuapeka County, yesterday afternoon. The hail lasted half an hour, and the stones Avere like birds' eggs. Tho main street of the toAvn Avas like a river, and school children had to be carried across. An immense amount of damage was done to gardens and growing crops.
