Mr E. Mitchelson, M.H.R., tho gentleman selected to hold the portfolio of Minister for Public Works, and to satisfy the demands of the Auckland politicians, has sat in the House of Representatives for two years, succeeding Mr Colbcck for the Marsden scat in tho last general elections. Mr Mitchelson is a kauri gum merchant at Auckland, and is a popular man amongst members of Parliament. If he did not happen to be a remarkably "nice fellow his obscurity as a politician would lead one to believe that his popularity was duo to the fact that he has not opened his lips since he has been in tho House.
