WASTE LANDS BOARD.

This Day

Tho Board met at 11 a.m. Present ; Tho Chief Commissioner (in the chair), Messrs F. Sutton, M.H.R.', J. Buchanan, M.H.R., J. T. Tylee, and R. Harding. CORRESPONDENCE. The following inward correspondence was read ; —■ From the Under-Secretary for Crown Lands, stating that the Government agrees to the Board's proposals to lease the Crown lands in the AVaitara block. From the Surveyor-general, stating that arrangements had been made with the Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Auckland district that the survey and sale of tho Crown lands in AVaihua and Rotokaranga blocks should be so conducted as to have the land subdivided iv the most suitable manner, irrespective of any strict adherence to the boundary line, viz., the 39th parallel of latitude.—lt was agreed to proceed with tho necessary surveys.

From Mr Neil Thompson, stating that the surveyor sent to put in tho back pegs of his section No. 15, in the Bush Mills Settlement, had altered tho direction of the north boundary fence from the bearing .shown on a tracing furnished to him by the Survey Department, and asking that the boundaries as given on that tracing may bo adhered to, and that ho will pay for any surplus area.— The Chairman explained fully tlic circumstances which caused the deviation, and the way in which it affected Mr Thompson's selection, ancl it was resolved that as there arc 150 acres in section 15 the Board cannot agree to any alterations from the boundaries as now pegged out, and that when this decision is made known to Mr Thompson he should be referred to No. 14 of the rules of the Association. From Mr F. AY. Knight, applying for permission to add a portion of Alexanderstreet and the adjoining section containing 2 acres 2 roods to the cemetery reserve at Danevirke.—Consideration postponed. From Messrs Gay and Haynes, railway contractors, asking for permission to cut fencing rails on town sections near tho police reserve, Danevirke, they paying 2s Od per 100 rails.—Application granted. From Mr 11. P. Mortcnsen, applying to transfer his license to occupy on deferred payments section 3, Block 111., Norsewood district, to Mr G. C. Thorcscn.—Ordered that notice of transfer be advertised. From the Ranger, reporting on Mr H. Gasson's selection, section 28, Victoria Special Settlement, and Mr G. S. Prefect's selection, section 37, samo settlement.— Decided that the selectors have completed the improvements required up to end of second year's occupation. applications. An application to purchase section 21, Block, 1, Ruataniwha district, of 300 acres was received from Mr A. H. Ross. —Approved. Tho following applications to occupy lands on deferred payments were approved: —No. 115, Mr C. P. Johnson, soction 35, Block 11, Ruataniwha district; No. 110, Mr G. H. Skott, section 1, Block I, Kumeroa village ; No. 117, Mr H. Jacobsen, sectiun 32, Block IX, Woodville district.
