MELBOURNE.
Monday. The promoters of racing sweeps under the pseudonym of Loco Spcro, whose character was recently exposed by the Herald, have levanted withjnoncy which has been subscribed by the public to various sweeps. The amount collected by the absconders prior to their defalcation is estimated at £11,000. This day. The Governor of Fiji, in replying to a communication of the Victorian Government, expresses sympathy with the object of the Annexation Conference, but doubts whether Fiji should be represented at the Convention.
