FANCY BALL AT HASTINGS.
The committee of the evening quadrille assembly, determined to terminate their past season successfully, decided to hold a fancy ball, which came off in the Town Hall last night, and was a most unqualified success. About forty couples attended, some of the dresses being most elegant. Where fill wore so well dressed it is almost impossible to single out any one to whom the palm can be given ; however, by common consent, the following ladies may bo said to have divided their claim to " belle " : —Miss Dennett, Mrs Thaycr, Miss McGlashan, and Mrs Parker. Mr Thayer officiated as master of ceremonies in a masterly manner, while Messrs Newbold, Shanloy, and Harrison supplied tho necessary music to the satisfaction of all.
