THE AVOOL MARKET FIRM. FIGHTING IN TONQUIN.—FRENCH VICTORIOUS. SIR GEORGE BOWEN GONE ON MISSION TO PEKIN. LONDON. September 14. At to-day's wool sales 9,200 bales were offered. There was a firm and active demand. September 10. The Marquis Tseng and M. Waddington, who has been deputed by the French Cabinet to conduct the negotiations with reference to the Franco-Chinese difficulty in Tonquin, have arrived in England, and havo gone to AValmer Castle, the seat of Lord Granville to confer with the British Foreign Minister with the view of arriving at a settlement of the difficulty. At to-day's wool auction the catalogue comprised 11,400 bales. The market was firm.
