The monthly practice of the Napier Fire Brigade takes place this evening, after which a meeting will be held at the station for the nomination of officers.
Those interested in the formation of a Cricket Club at Hastings are requested to meet at the Pacific Hotel at 8 o'clock to-
nijrht. Messrs Banner and Liddle sell at their rooms to-morroAv tea, barley, baco.n, and maize without resorve, also a small lot of groceries, &c. The Stonebyres (Hastings) boarding and day school re-opens on Monday next.
Mr Monteith sells an express coach, two horses, and harness, at his stock sale at the Horse Bazaar on Saturday. A special meeting of members of _ the Napier Athenseum and Mechanics' Institute is convened for Friday evening, 21st instant, to discuss the desirability of bringing the Athenseum under the Public Libraries Act. Messrs Miller and Potts have for sale tho pure Clydesdale stallions Laird O'Stonebyres and Berlin Congress, and, if not previously sold, will be offered at auction with other prize stock on Friday, 12th October, at Beecroft's Repository, Hastings. The Waipawa County Racing Club hold races as usual on New Year's Day.
Mr Lamb invites tenders for the erection oi a villa residence in Thompson-road, Napier. A reward of £10 is offered for information that will ensure the conviction of the poisoner of a Newfoundland dog in or near Enfield road, Napier, in June last. Messrs Knight Bros., Hastings, havo a largo stock of general ironmongery for sale cheap for cash. A srold-mounted greenstone fish was lost in the cemetery on"Saturday, and finder will oblige by leaving same at office of this
paper. A pair of carriage geldings will be sold at the Horse Bazaar on Saturday. Messrs Blythe and Co. have nun's cloth in a variety of shades.
