The Council met at 2.30 p.m. ekucational oiu_va___s. After somo debato the report of tho joint committee on educational grievances, and tho evidence taken, Avere ordered to be printed. I'ASSVOE OF DILLS. On the motion for going into committee on tho School Committees Election Bill, Dr Pollen moved that it be committed that daysix months. After discussion the Council divided. Ayes 17, Noes 17. Mr Campbell stated that lie had by mistake voted against the bill instead of for it. Tho Speaker said this could not be altered now : there was a tie, and lie a-ave his casting vote to throAv tho bill out, chief! v owing to the late period of the session. The bill Avas throAvn out. The Wcstland High School Bill, the Auckland Hospital Reserves Bill, and the Land Transfer Act Amendment Bill AVCi'O read a second time. The Taiaroa Land Bill, the AVcst Coast Settlement Reserves Amendment, Bill, tho KaAvhia Township Sale Bill, the A r oluntcer Act Amendment Bill, the Charitable Gifts Duties Exemption Bill, the Auckland Harbor Act Amendment Bill, and the Licensing Act Amendment Bill No. 2 Avere read a third time and passed. The Corrupt Practices Prevention Bill, tho Land Transfer Act Amendment Bill, and the Wcstland High School Bill were considered in committee.
