CORRESPONDENCE.

THE POULTRY SHOW.

[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir,—ln a local paragraph in the morning paper of this date, referring to the meeting of the committee of the Poultry and Canary Association, held at the Masonic Hotel last evening, the folioAving appears :—" Mr Winter was present, and explained that a cheque for £1 10s given on behalf of the association had been dishonored by an oversight, and not intentionally, as arrangements had been made for it to bo paid." Will you kindly allow me to explain that Mr Winter, as manager of the Bank of Australasia, had previously given the chairman of the committee his assurance that this particular cheque would be paid, and that tho payment of the amount stated Avould have overdraAvn the account to the extent of Is Od only, with a A-ery considerable amount of society funds yet to be collected. Mr Winter's excuse for the mishap Avas that, having to be at Hastings to inspect some horses, he omitted to instruct his clerks to pay the amount. For the sake of the future welfare of the association it is much to be regretted that any misunderstanding of this nature should have arisen, and it is solely in the interests of the society that I deem it to bo my duty to place these facts before the public.—l am, Sec, Chas. G. Smyth, Sec. H.B. P. and C. Society.
