Tuesday. Tho Council met at 2.30 p.m. NEW BILLS. Tho following bills Avere introduced and read a first time :—Corrupt Practices Act Amendment (Robinson), Licensing Act Amendment (AVilsou), Coroners Act Amendment (Buckley). BARMAIDS. A motion by Mr Chambcrliu for a return of tho number of barmaids employed m tho colony Avas negatived. ISILLS. The Confederation and Annexation Bill was read a third time and passed on a division by 25 to 10. The Tauonutui Native Commonage Bill was read a third time and passed. Tho Bankruptcy Bill AS-as read a second 9 timo after a brief debate.
