FIRE AT DUNEDIN.
Dunedin, This day
Afire occurred last CA'cning in Mansestreet, in a large Avooden building occupied by Messrs M'Lean and Co., auctioneers,! he upper storey of Avhichis occupied by various offices. The fire occurred through one _of the occupants of the upper rooms letting fall a kerosene lamp AA-ith Avhich he AA'as looking if all Avas safe for the night. The upper story Avas pretty thoroughly gutted, and some Avlicut on the loavci* floor Avas damaged by Avater. Tho insurances arc as follows :• —
On the building (the property of Messrs D. Proudfoot and AY. J. Larnach), £1000 in the National (probable loss £400) ; on Mr Isaacs' stock-, £200 in the National office (probable loss £300) ; on the grain, £100 iv the National office (probable loss £200) ; on Mr HarberoAv's stock, £200 in the London and Lancashire office (probable loss £500). Besides these losscss there are A'arious amounts lost by holders of offices iv the upper story aa'lio avci*o uninsured.
