[l"K0M OUR, OWN COinnOSrONTjKNT.]

Wellington, This day

In reference to the Bankruptcy Courts, Mr Smith enquired last night what provision would bo made where the Supreme Court only met once in .six months, as in Napier. The l-'ply was, " it is very likely

that, if the bill- should pass, it may be necessary to make special provision in several parts of "the colony, and it will bo the duty of the Government of the day to make that provision to avoid inconvenience." This will allay the fears of tho Napier Chamber of Commerce. That confounded Native Lands Bill still excires attention, delays business, and does not seem to progress' itself. On Tue.sday the Ministry will announce the position they will take up in reference to it. That position will be a collectively antagonistic one, though whether they will demand a party vote on it or not remains to be seen. The promoters of the bill, who have so far been able to laugh at all obstacles, which would have upset a dozen better measures, are confident of being able to carry it in the face of all opposition. The above bill and Mr Montgomery's motion effectually bar the way to the financial discussion being proceeded with. I see no reason to suppose the leader of the Opposition will cany his motion, though many who should know unhesitatingly assort that he will. I am afraid the wish is father to the thought.
