WASTE LANDS BOARD.

This Day,

The Board met at 11 a.vi. Present: Tho Cliief Commissioner (Mr Horace Baker) in tho chair. Captain TV. R. Russell, and Mr R. Harding. COREB3PONDENCK. The following inward correspondence was read: — From tho secretary Hawke's Bay Education Board, applying for a site for a school on the main road running from Woodville to Napier, near the Manga-nfcua bridge.— Agreed that iivo acres out of Woodville rural section 53 be selected for tho purpose by tho Chief Surveyor. From Mr S. Franklin, Wainui, applying for leave to alter the position of the boundaries of his application No. 2587 in tho Taiitauo district.—Approved. From Messrs Wanies and Sims, asking to be reinstated in pasture occupation license No. 131, ii. the Mohaku district, -which was forfeited on April 24th, 1579.— Tho Board decided that it had no power to re-open the case, a former appeal of a similar character to the present having been considered on May Bth, 1879Fi'om Mr L. A. MatMoson, the occupier of deferred payment section, 87, Block V, Tnkapau district, stating that he had carried out the conditions required during the first two years, and asking permission to take up some more land on deferred pay-ments.--Agreed to. From Mr Jan Johanson, stating his ■willingness to take up section 21, block VI., Norsewood survey district on deferred payments.—lt was decided that, as tho section in question, together with others in blocks 111 and IV are advertised for sale for cash, it would not be advisable to offer them on deferred payments, Mr Johanson to be informed that other lands in the same locality will bo thrown open for sale on deferred payments at an early date. From Mr J. Brabazon, secretary to a public meeting recently held at Ormondville, stating that the settlers had agreed unanimously to ask the Waste Lands Board to sell the Makatoku block on deferred piyments, and enclosing the names of 37 parsons who are willing to take up the land oa the terms named.—lt was agreed to inform Mr Brabazon thao it has been already decided to prepare the Raikaiatai block at Makatoku for settlement, and that, after the survey is completed, the Board will recommend the Governor to throw open about one-half of the land on sale for deferred payment. From Mr C. Litton, owner of section 16, Block VI., Woodville district, asking permission to fell a strip half a chain wide along the fencing line on the boundary between his property and the Crown lands in section 8 of same block. —Agreed to, provided the totara trees on the line arc left standing. hanger's ekfobt. The report of tho ranger on deferred payment holdings was received. It was decided that the conditions to the end of the second year had been carried out by the following holders :—P. Hyland, section 10 ;E. J. Wright, section 11; R. Dickey, section 9 ; Block XIII, Tahoraite. J. Little, section 6, Block IX., Tahoraite. To end of first year: T. Tipping, small farm allotment 18, Block IX., Tahoraite. The ranger reported that A. McMillan, Selector, small farm allotment 3, Block IX., Tahoraite, is residing on his land, as was also P. Debreceny, selector, small farm allotment 18, Block VIII., Kumeroa village. LANDS SOLD. The Chairman reported that at the land sale last week 1828 acres in 18 sections, value £2461 15s Bd, were taken up on deforred payments, and eight sections containing 313 acres, value £20G 11s 3d, were purchased for cash.
