Tho Union Steamship Company's s.s. Manapouri loft Melbourne at 7.20 p.m. on the 12th instant., cleared Port Philip Heads at 9.40 p.m., passed Kent's Group at 9.30, and Swan Island at 1.30 p.m. on the 13th ; had light northerly winds to arrival at Hobart at 7.30 a.m. on the 14th, after a very fast passage of 36 hours ; sailed at 5. 15 p.m., passed Cape Pillar at 8.15 p.m. ; met fresh, northerly winds during the run across ; passed Solander at 2 p.m. on tho 17th, anchored outside tbe Bluff Harbor at 7 p.m., went alongside the wharf next morning, sailed at 4 p.m. on the 18th, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 8 a.m. on the 19th instant. Sailed from Port Chalmers at 6 p.m. on the 20th, and arrived at Lyttelton at 9 a.m. on the 21st; sailed at 9.20 p.m. and arrived at AVellington at 11 a.m. on the '_2nd; sailed at 8.40 p.m., and arrived at Napier at 3 p.m. on tho 23rd.' It may he here incidentally mentioned that tho Manapouri made tho passage from the Bluff to Melbourne last trip in three days twentytwo hours, and tho company's letters were ? laced in their office under the four days, 'ho passengers and mails were brought off by tho Boojum immediately on arrival, and the cargo lightered hy the lighters. _ The outward passengers were taken off in the evening, the Manapouri steaming for Sydney via Poverty Bay and Auckland later on. The Union Company's s.s. Taiaroa, 228 tons, Captain Hansby, arrived in the roadstead at daylight this morning from tho North. For the following report of her passage we are indebted to her purser, Mr J. Wftddie :—Left Auckland at 6 p.m. on tho 22nd, arriving at Tauranga at 7.30 a.m. on tho 23rd ; left again at 10.30 a.m. same date, arriving at Gisborne at 7.15 a.m. on | the 24th, sailing for Napier at 5 p.m. same date, and arriving here as above. Experienced strong N.E. winds and heavy sea to East Capo, thence light breezes till arrival at Gisborne ; from latter port fresh gale from N.E. and high seas till arrival. The Taiaroa took her departure for Wellington and Dunedin during the course of the day. The s.s. Kiwi, Captain James Campbell, arrived in our roadstead at daylight to-day, and was forthwith brought inside and moored to tho breastwork, where she discharged hor cargo, consisting of a quantity of transhipments ex Cumbria from London. She steams for AVellington at 4 o'clook this evening. The outward passengers and mails for tho Union Company's s.s. Tarawera wero taken off by tho Boojum on Saturday afternoon, the steamer leaving for AVellington, Southern ports, and Melbourne about 3 p.m,
Tho Union Sioainfthip Company's s.s. Omapero left Timaru for this port yesterday, and will arrive here to-morrow morning. She brings a full cargo of produce, after discharging which she will steam at 5 o'clock to-morrow evening for Poverty Bay, Tauranga, and Auckland. The s.s. Maori, Captain Anderson, leaves for Wairoa at midnight to-night, taking passengers and a full cargo.
