A SURVEYOR MISSING.
AA r ELi.iNGTON, This day. No intelligence has yet been obtained as to the missing surveyor Mr Carkeek, avlio a few clays ago disappeared somewhere to the northward of Taranaki. Latest telegrams received by the Government from the locality report that there are still no tidings of the missing man. A search party has been out lookimr for him, but so far Avithout success. Mr Carkeek aa .is on his Avay from NeAV Plymouth toAvards Mokau Avhen he so mysteriously disappeared, and the first search party has been trying to folloAV him tOAvard Pukcaruhe and Mokau. A second search party has been ordered out, and will start so soon as the Aveather moderates sufficiently, it having been exceedingly stormy iv that locality. The second party Avill follow Mr Carkeek's trail as far as possible in the Mokau direction. New Plymouth, This day. No anxiety is felt here for Mr Carkeek, for it is supposed that both he aud the survey party arc at a native settlement on tho Upper Wanganui river. A search party of natives from Mokau have, however, started to ascertain the a. hereabouts of the party, which Is nine in number.
