Ploughing Matches. TARADALE AND HASTINGS PLOUGHING MATCH SOCIETY. THE ANNUAL MATCH will take place on THURSDAY, 31st May, 1883, in the Taradale District, in a paddock kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Newbold. To start at 9.30 a.m. sharp. PROGRAMME— Champion Class —Entrance, 10s Gd ; open to all comers; any plough. Ist prize £5 ss; -nd prize, £3 3s; 3rd prize, £1 Is. Cl.vss A.—Single Furrow; for men who never have won a first prize. Entrance 7s Gd, or 10s Gd to compete for Champion Cup. Ist prize, £5 5s ; '2nd prize, £3 3s ; 3rd prize, £1 Is. Class B.—Double Furrow. Entrance 7s Gd, or 10s Gd to compete in Champion Class. Ist prize, £7 7s ; 2nd prize, £1 4s ; 3rd prize, £1 Is. Class C.—Double FitrroT. Entrance 7s Gd, or 10s (3d to compete in Champion Class; for men who have never won a first prize with a double or treble furrow Plough. Ist prize, £5 «is; 2nd prize, £3 lis ; 3rd prize, £1 Is. Class D.—Treble Furrow. Entrance 7s Gd, or 10s Gd to compete iv Champion Class. Open to all comers. Ist prize, £7 7s : 2nd prize, £1 Is ; 3rd prize, £2 2s. Three competitors or no second prize will be given. Class E.—Any Plough. Boys under IS ; Entrance ss, or 10s Gd to compete in Champion Class. Ist prize, £3 3s and Medal; 2nd prize, £3 3s; 3rd prize, £1 Is. Class F.—Any Plough, natives only, entrance 7s Gd or 10s Gd to compete in Champion Class. Ist prize, £1 -Is; 2nd prize, £2 2s. -A.ll classes open to natives. Srr.ciAT, Phizes— C. C. Murray, Esq., gives £2 2s for lightest draught in Double Furrow Class. " Ploughninu " trives £1 Is for lightest draught in Single Furrow Class. The Society's Chaiupiou Cup will bo awarded to the best ploughing on the ground for which the entrance of 10s Gd has been paid. Ex-champions and first prize takers in class A must enter in Champion Class. Entries close at 8.30 a.m. on tho morning of the match. I—Recruit drills will take place at JL i Mr. Tiff en's shed as follows :—lst, 3rd, Bth, 10th, 15th, 17th, 29th, and olst, at 7.15 p.m. 2.—Recruits of both corps having fulfilled the requisite 30 hours' drill, and being efficient, will be transferred into a class- for judging distance and tiling practice, to entitle him to receive a certiiicato of efficiency. o.—Gun drill for Artillery Volunteers will take place on WEDNESDAY, 9th and 23rd, at Mr. Titt'en's shed : on the 2nd and 30th at the gun shed, at 7.15 p.m.; undress uniform. 4.—Company drill for tho Napier Rifles on WEDNESDAY, 2nd aud 30th, at Mr. Tiff en's shed. s.—Government inspection on WEDNESDAY, the 16th, in front of the Atheiueiun, at 7.45 p.m. Inspection at 8 p.m. sharp.
