Professor Hugo delivers a lecture on " Eyes " in St. John's school-room to-night, commencing at S o'clock. Messrs Banner and Liddle sell at their rooms on Wednesday Sydney oranges, lemons, Tasmaniaii apples, maize, and barley. Return tickets, available for the day of issue only, will be issued from all stations on the Napier line of railway on the Queen's birthday. The Tamumu Road Board invites tenders, in two contracts, for forming about 80 chains of road. Mr A. Kennedy lias been appointed a canvassing agent for the Government Insurance Department. Messrs E. Beck and Co., miller* and general merchants, Hastings and_ Clivc, have opened up the bulk of their shipments of now goods for the winter season, particulars of which are announced. Messrs Blytlie and Co. have choice millinery at reasonable charges. A number of new advertisements will be found in our " Wanted " column.
