ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES.
Dunedin, This day. A lad named Charles Strachan had his left hand cut off this morning at Messrs R. Guthrie and Co.'s timber factory. He ivas engaged oiling a plaiting machine, and he happened to slip his hand and got caught in it. Auckland, This day. The body of a man named Alison, a bushman, was found at the foot of a cliff near Mechanic's Bay. He had evidently fallen over the harbor. Deceased was in town for a month, and wa.-i drinking hea .'ily. Asm.URTON, This Day. The Northern express train ran into a mob of 500 sheep near Chortscy on Thursday and killed nearly forty.
An inquest ivill be held at the Ashburton Hospital to-day touching- the death of a man named Joseph. Mulligan, who was found dead iv bed at tho Chertsey Hotel.
