May. I—Maori, s.s., for AVairoa and Mohaka. Passengers—Messrs T. Lucas, Robert Stuart, and a family of four. I—Mariaia, P- s -> iov Wairoa. Passengers —Mr Bennett. 1— Taiaroa, s.s., for Dunedin.ind Wellington. Passengers—Sir George Whit-more and MrsHogan.

The steamer Maori, Captain Anderson, steamed for AVairoa and Mohaka at 1 o'clock this morning with tho paddle launch Leisure Hour in tow, which hitter is intended to act as a tender on the AVairoa river. The Maori took a full cargo and several passengers, and is telegraphed as having arrived in the river at 9 o'clock this morning.

The follwoing is a report of the passage of tho Union Company's s.s. Taiaroa, which arrived in the roadstead at about 7 o'clock this morning:—Left Auckland at G p.m. on the 2Sth, and arrived at Tauranga at 7.30 a.m. on the 29th ; left again at 11 a.m., passed AVhitc Island at 3..30 p.m., and arrived at Gisborne at G. 30 a.m. on the 30th ; experienced line weather to Gisborne, thence thick dirty weather till arrival; left Gisborne at 8.15 p.m., and arrived at Napier as above. She was tendered early for mails and passengers by the Boojum, and by the ketch Three Brothers for her cargo, some 30 tons. The launch took the outward passengers oil at 10 o'clock, the Taiaroa steaming on her way for AVellington and Dunedin soon afterward. The brig-Fawn, Captain Dinner, arrived in the bay yesterday afternoon, after rather a protracted passage from Newcastle, New South AValcs. She reports having left Newcastle on the sth April; experienced south-westerly and south-easterly breezes for first few days, then encountered a heavy southerly gale, with high seas; until rounding the North Cape on the 18th, from thence had thick easterly weather with almost continuous rain until rounding the East Cape on the 27th, from thence to arrival light southerly and easterly winds. She brings a cargo of 328 tons of coal consigned to Mr John Orr. She will be lightered in the bay of about 100 tons of her cargo prior to being berthed inside. The p.s. Manaia, Capt. Baxter, got away i'or AVairoa. at 2 o'clock this morning, with a good cargo. She is telegraphed as having arrived at AVairoa at 9 o'clock.

Tho cutter Lizzie, Capt. McGemey, arrived here this morning from Tairua after about a fortnight's passage. She brings a cargo of sawn timber consigned to Messrs Largo and Townley, which sho Avill commence discharging this afternoon. The Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross, Capt. Allnian, is telegraphed as having left AVellington at 5 o'clock last night, and Avill arrive here during this evening. She will be brought inside to discharge her cargo, and at 2 o'clock tomorroAv is announced to steam for Gisborne and Auckland.

The steamer Bella is loading up for Mohaka and AVairoa to-day, and is to take her departure at 1 o'clock to-morrow morning. The s.s. Kiwi is expected to leave AVcllington at 5 o'clock to-night, and may be looked for here on Thursday morning,

The Union Company's steamer Omapcre, Capt. Webster, is duo here ou Friday from Duucdiii, Oamaru, and Timaru, and Avill be sailing northwards at 3 o'clock the same day.

She met ou (he (Ith of April Avith a licaAsy gale. A tremendous sea broke on board, and about 20 minutes aftenvards, Avhen one of the hands named Enoch Thirbou Avas required he Avas missing. It is thought he must have been Avashcd overboard and Avas droAvned. One of the other hands had a narrow escape. He Avas actually in the Avater, but managed to scramble into the vessel again. Enoch Thirbon Avas a colored man, about 25 years years of age. Arrived, Halcione, barque, Capt. Parker, from London, 111 days out. Auckland, This day. The mail steamship City of Sydney arrived at the AA'harf last night at 10.30. ArriA'cd, steamer Rotomahana from Sydney.
