MAJOR ATKINSON'S TOUR.—DEPUTATION AT CHRISTCHURCH.
Christchurch, This day. Major Atkinson arrived from tho South on Saturday. He received a deputation respecting tho duty to bo paid on fruits imported for jam making, and on yarn suitable for carpet making. The deputation asked that those articles should be duty free. Major Atkinson promised to consider the matter. AVellington, This day. Major Atkinson returned from the South yesterday afternoon. He intends to address lila constituents in a feAV days, and it is probable that subsequently he Avill Aisit the North, addressing the various centres on his national assuruuec scheme and other matters.
