An experiment Avas made Avith an electrical tram car in London on the 10th instant, it ran a distance of four miles satisfactorily, and fulfilled the requirements of the Board of Trade.
Frank Byrne Avas released by the French authorities on the ground that his complicity in the attempted murder of juror Field and Judge Lawson amounted merely to introducing arms into Ireland. It Avas claimed that even if the arms were intended for the purpose of murder the offence was a political one. The Times of March 10th says, "'We ha\'e good reason to believe the inquiries now proceeding will implicate tho Land League beyond doubt iv the immediate patronage of crime in Irelaudj even if it does not establish its direct" connection ■with the 'Invincibles.' The flight of Patrick Egau, unless explained, is a moral acknowledgment of guilt, from the damning consequences of Avhich none of his associates can escape, unless Egau can clear his own and their characters. We shall not be surprised to learn that tho leaders of the Land League Avho still remain in the United Kingdom may shortly find it convenient to follow Egan's example."
Egau eluded the vigilance of the police by shamming sickness. Dr. Kenny maintained the deception by visiting Egan, Avho left Dublin disguised as a priest.

Miss Hyland. who brought a suit against Mr Biggar, 31.P., for breach of promise, recovered on the Bth instant in a Loudon Court £100 damages. Tho parties Avert- introduced in Paris by Patrick Egan, Treasurer of the Land League, Avho,
according to tho fair complainant, Avas responsible for bringing the suit. The lady further stated that" Egan left Dublin to avoid being called as a witness. Jenkiiison, a director of the Irish Criminal Investigation Department, says, on the contrary, that he left on account of a complication Avith the "Invincible" conspiracy, Avhich Avill be brought to light if Sheridan be extradited by the American Government. Mr Gladstone arrived in London from France ou March 3rd in excellent health and spirits. He Avas heartily cheered at the raihvay station. Duriug his stay iv Paris the Premier had at interview with Cliallemeye, I.aeour, and .Jules Ferry, and the conversation, as reported by an English correspondent, Avas by no means reassuring, so far as it referred to a settlement of the French status in Egypt. Both Lacour aud Ferry took a firm stand ou the subject, and told Mr Gladstone that nothing short of the re-instatement of France iv a position equal to that occupied by her under the joint control system Avould be satisfactory. Mr Gladstone expressed surprise, and added that the foreign jxdice of the French Government promised to be both independent and aggressive, and to add materially to England's embarrassment in Europe.
