Palmkhstox Noeth, Saturday. Alexander Hastings Malcolm, a respectably dressed person, was to-day charged on a warrant v. Ith having, at Pahnerston North, on the 10th March, supplied certain material fur establishing an vn l; eenscd still. Detective Chrystal deposed that the warrant was executed this morning in Wellington. Defendant said he " expected this," adding that Inspector James had gone to his place with a search warrant, but had found nothing, and went away apparently satisfied. Defendant, who offered no objection, was remanded to appear at WangauH. on the 29th. instant, bai'. being allowed in his own recognisance of £100 and two sureties of £00 each.

Monday. Three more arrests have been made in connection with the illicit still. "W. H. Flyger, of the firm of Girlott Bros., with which is incorporated Flyger, Malcolm, and Co., was arrested on Thursday evening, and on Friday Charles and George Peck, brothers of the man previously in custody, were also arrested. All were brought befor the Court on Saturday, and remanded for eight days, being admitted to bail, each in £200, with two sureties of £100 each. So far the Pecks only have found bail. Rumours are current of further probable arrests, as fresh revelations arc bev.iy made to the police.
